Official deloyment of “Millions of Meals” program
Hanoi, April 13th, 2020 - Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation co-operating with PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Company and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage deploy "Millions of Meals" program conveying the message of "Deliver Meals- Deliver Faith" to support disadvantaged people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a joint effort of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Company, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage and Central Committee of Vietnam Youth Federation serving as a response to the call by Prime Minister which was "No one is left behind". The program is expected to spread love and care of the community and society and raise a million meals and more for disadvantaged people as a practical and humanitarian act in this current period.
As a warm-up for the program, of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Company and Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage had donated 7 billion VND and various products by the two companies with the value estimated at 1.8 billion VND. Within the signing ceremony on April 10th, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam Company committed to sponsor 4,86 billion VND, and Sting - energy drink manufactured by Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage donated two billion VND for Vietnam Young Physicians' Association. The money was used to offer medical equipment for some front-line hospitals and medicine centers which are directly particpating in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Millions Of Meals" program is carried out in five cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Hai Phong and Can Tho. From 13 April till 26 April, the program will provide over 200,000 nutritious meals for about 67,000 poor people in 95 giving points nationwide. In the first day of implementation, the first 200 beneficiaries, who are hemodialysis patients in Thanh Nhan, Hanoi, received 600 food packages for three-day use. Besides, 600 other food packages have been delivered to underserved communities in Ward 1, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City.. Other venues for food delivery will be soon organized in the coming weeks.

While directly delivering donations to people in Dialysis Hamlet, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Standing Secretary of Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union cum President of Vietnam Youth Federation shared that the deployment of "Millions Of Meals" program was one of many detailed and practical activities by Vietnam Youth Federation in their company with the nation in the fight against Covid-19. In delivery venues, youth volunteers directly distributed food packages to the poor, disadvantaged people, homeless people, manual workers, and unemployed labours, disadvantaged university students as a means of sharing and support to help them soon overcome the pandemic.
Within the same day, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan also visited and gifted doctors and nurses in Hanoi Nephrology Hospital.
Mrs. Wei Wei Yao, Vice President cum General Manager of Asia Region and Beverage Division in China under PepsiCo Group stated that: "The crisis caused by COVID-19 has severely impacted million people's lives. However, those who suffer the most are disadvantaged people and medical staff - front-line soldiers in this battle. At PepsiCo, we would like to utilize our expertise in food industry to contribute to the Government's efforts. I hope that "Millions of Meals" program will spread positivity thanks to the joint effort from all walks of life and together, we will overcome challenges caused by COVID-19."
Mrs. Van Thi Anh Thu, Deputy General Director of Human Resources and Foreign Affairs, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage shared: "Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage is honored to accompany with Vietnam Youth Federation in carrying out "Millions of Meals" program to deliver meals and faith to the poor. Directly participating in the delivery to disadvantaged people today, I'm moved. We hope that the program's message will be widely spread so more individuals and organizations will join and donate and more meals filled with love will be distributed to those people with poor living conditions who are in need of help."
