Community united amid Covid-19
Amid Covid-19 many charity initiatives have been conducted to support people living in difficulties including the Millions of Meals program.
Covid-19 caused many
countries to mobilize all economic, defense and medical potentials etc. to
fight against the pandemic.
In Vietnam, the Vietnamese people and diaspora and the corporate community have joined hands to fight the pandemic. All necessities from personal equipment, medical and hygiene supplies to daily meals were donated to support the frontline doctors treating Covid-19 patients.
A local received gifts from the Millions of Meals program of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam.
There have been touching stories such as the ones of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Ngo Thi Quyt (95 years old, Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City) day by day sewing mask for people living in difficulties or the humble wealthy philanthropist Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Bac Giang province) contributing 50 tons of rice to support frontline organizers in fighting the pandemic.
In many provinces, landlords reduced renting cost accepting loss up to hundreds of million dong to support people through difficult times. Those are examples of Vietnamese solidarity during challenges.

Ms. Wei Wei Yao, Vice President cum General Manager of Asia Region and Beverage Division in China under PepsiCo Group said: "Vietnam is one of the few countries who have successfully prevented and controlled the pandemic until this time. The Millions of Meals program was conducted not only from the corporate budget but also with the support of the business community and society to help those seriously affected by Covid-19 ".
Right after the launch, many individuals, corporates, celebrities have joined hands to support and call for further donation. Each package with rice, meat, mineral water was handed to the underprivileged people spreading love amongst the community to ensure that no one was left behind.

According to the representative of PepsiCo group, the Millions of Meals initiative is in line with the 55 Million Meals program that PepsiCo has implemented on a global scale. The representative hopes that with the community support, the program continues to develop further and help people to win in the fight against the pandemic.
In addition, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam in collaboration with the Hope Fund (operated by VnExpress and FPT), Bach Mai Hospital, Da Nang Communist Youth Union and Administration of Examination and Treatment - Ministry of Health donated 6,300 beverage cases for the pandemic frontline workers.
The company in cooperation with the Vietnam National Union of Students donated over 11,000 litres of hand sanitizer and 15,000 masks to students in 9 provinces. The program is scheduled to take place when students return to school.
In addition, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam through the Vietnam Association of Young Doctors and the Covid-19 Fighting the Pandemic Youth Program sponsored medical supplies for front-line workers nationwide.
