On June 25 and 26, the event "One Year Sum-Up and
2020-2021 Operation Plan Announcement” of Vietnam Package Recycling
Organization (PRO Vietnam) took place in Hoi An (Quang Nam province). The celebrities
including Huong Giang, Nguyen Khang, Truc Diem, Cao Xuan Tai, Chau Bui, Trong
Hieu, Hari Won, Tuan Tran etc. graced the event and joined hands to spread the
meaningful message of PRO Vietnam, of which Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is one of
the founding members.
Changing public awareness on package waste
Joining the event, host Nguyen Khang shared that PRO
Vietnam is a good initiative for companies to work together towards improving
the Vietnam environment status. He was impressed with the trash classification campaign
as it informs people on how to classify and recycle trash properly. There had
been similar activities before; however, the quality was not up to the bar yet
and therefore, the result was not that as good as expected.

classification and environment protection.
Miss Huong Giang seconded host Nguyen Khang’s sharing.
She added that she was particularly impressed with the nationwide “Clean the
beaches” campaign organized by Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, which collected up to
8.5 tons of waste. The campaign attracted thousands of youngsters to join hand
in cleaning the beaches. Even though it was exhausting, everyone was happy to
participate in such a meaningful activity.

Change the trash recycling habits
As one of the PRO Vietnam representatives, Cao Xuan
Tai shared tips to help people to develop recycling habits. The simplest way is
to get involved with environment activities, help cleaning the beaches, classifying
trash at work and in the community, which is also similar to the kind of
activities that PRO Vietnam companies are promoting.
Beside the celebrity gracing, the event also reviewed
the first operation year of PRO Vietnam.
As one of the leading beverage companies, Suntory
PepsiCo Vietnam has made great efforts in recycling packages, contributing to
the sustainable development of Vietnam environment. After one year of joining
PRO Vietnam, the company is more than ever aware of its role and responsibility
in solving environment problems and improving the eco-friendliness of its production
processes.
Since 2018, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam has carried out
many initiatives to reduce plastic in production, which helped to save up to 3,500
tons of plastic. The removal of shrink film around Aquafina caps also saved
another 140 tons of plastic each year.
Recycle and promote a recycling culture
Being proactive in building the recycling habit
amongst the community, the company collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh Young
Pioneer Organization in organizing "Recycle Festival - MIZU Knight for the
Environment" within the framework "Mizuiku - I Love Clean Water”
program to raise the student’s awareness on the importance of reuse, recycling
and environment protection.
The activity was carried out in 15 elementary schools
with the participation of around 6,500 students. In 2020, students will start
to have waste sorting lessons as a part of their school’s program. Information
corners and waste separation areas will be set up for students to separate
wastes accordingly.
In addition, the company also launched the “Revival of
Waste" trash classification campaign amongst employees in all offices and
factories. Mr.
Jahanzeb Qayum Khan – Chief Communications Officer of PRO Vietnam, CEO of Suntory
PepsiCo Vietnam and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Ha – CEO of Annam Group shared the
summary report of PRO Vietnam’s first year operation and communication efforts
to raise awareness on environment protection
